Kevin, I bet you're breaking ground here. The world's first virtual mini!

07-25-2008, 03:37 PM
Yikes!!! The Pressure!!!

07-25-2008, 04:28 PM
Great idea...wish I thought of it. I'll see you guys tomorrow.

07-25-2008, 05:32 PM
Awesome! Glad to know you could get it working. I'm downloading the client right now.

07-25-2008, 05:35 PM
I uploaded a slide to the Live Meeting site so if anyone wants to test the client connection and know it's working, just go to https://www112.livemeeting.com/cc/microsoft/join?id=ZC8J9K&role=attend (https://www112.livemeeting.com/cc/microsoft/join?id=ZC8J9K&role=attend)
and see if you can see the slide.

If you can see it, you should be fine tomorrow...

I went there to test it out. I used the web version of the Live Meeting and I saw the slide. That is really cool, a good idea. It did say something about this meeting uses computer audio and the web version of Live Meeting doesn't support that, so I might install the local version so I can check it out. I might be able to get in for a little bit tomorrow, but it's also our annual golf outing so I probably can't visit too long. I like the concept though! Have fun at the mini!

07-25-2008, 06:12 PM
Good Point!
DON'T use the web version if you want to hear audio :)
Install the actual client to your machine and you'll get a much richer experience, including audio :)

07-25-2008, 06:40 PM
Great job Kevin, when there and gorehounds test is great. Don't have a microphone, so I couldn't let him know.

Besides being a computer guru, radio specialist and massive Blinky builder, when do you have time to work.

07-25-2008, 06:45 PM
I was able to log on and saw (and heard) you talking to someone!! Also see the slide once you logged off. Awsome!!!!! Great Job!!!!!!!!

07-25-2008, 07:24 PM
Wow, pretty cool. Don't have a microphone otherwise I would have chatted. ;)

(mental note for next year... come down the night before... :D)

07-25-2008, 08:24 PM
HI KEVIN! I'm here! I don't have microphone or camera sorry :( I just thought I'd see if it worked! I can see and hear you! WOW I am just so WOW

07-25-2008, 09:20 PM
Awesome turnout on the test tonight!!!
For those who didn't see this thread earlier, I'll be on for a while more tonight for you to test your connection / ask questions, and I'll try to join tomorrow between 9 and 9:30 am for those who might have issues...

See you on the Live Meeting!!!

07-25-2008, 09:36 PM
I can't wait...I've never been to a hotel in Pennsylvania before!

07-25-2008, 09:37 PM
The link isn't working! It keeps saying the connection was reset. (in Firefox) is this because you logged out?

07-25-2008, 09:51 PM
Hi Everyone,
Everything is working fine, we've tested it with over a dozen people tonight.

For those trying to get in after 9pm EST tonight, they are in a 7 hour scheduled downtime - It won't be back up until 4:00am EST.

You won't be able to get in until 4:01 am EST, so I'll just see you around 9-9:30 EST on Saturday the 26th.

Thank You to everyone who tested the links and AV with me!

Looked great can't wait to "virtually" attend tommorow!

07-26-2008, 01:34 AM
Mmm, its all working..

However 10am EST, is 2am here and Midnight in Aussie.. I might just catch you on the tail end... Have a great one over there..

07-26-2008, 04:46 AM
Well I'm waiting,:p got it to work, but I dont have a webcam or microphone:(
So I'll just watch and listen

07-26-2008, 08:00 AM
hey Kevin can I enable my web cam?if so ???

07-26-2008, 08:20 AM
Good morning Ron - You sure can!
At the top of the "Voice & Video" window, there are speaker, microphone, and webcam icons - clicking on them toggles the devices on / off.

07-26-2008, 08:20 AM
I'll not be able to sit in front of the computer all day. Is there a (good) way to record the audio/video for later playback? I could not find any "record" option in the the client version.

07-26-2008, 11:15 AM
Here's the scoop - At one point we had 30 people tuned in, but the cable modem connection from Greg's house was pretty bad.

By minimizing the video on the attendee end, it was OK, but not optimal by any means.

I will attempt it again for the Charlotte Mini if I'm able to attend that one.

Thank You to EVERYONE for sticking with it and testing / trying it out!!!

07-26-2008, 11:23 AM
Thank you for setting it up to test! It's been amazing even if it wasn't perfect, will be great for future use.

07-26-2008, 11:26 AM
Great job in setting it up on such short notice Kevin! Thanks!

Even though Greg may have a good high-speed Internet connection, it probably is quite limited on the upload bandwidth, as most residential connections are.

07-26-2008, 11:27 AM
Wondering if he tried a direct connect to the modem (if he has a router or firewall setup)?

Anyhow thanks for the setup. I was all ready to capture the entire mini.

07-26-2008, 04:50 PM
Either way it was great entertainment and great fun!

07-26-2008, 06:26 PM
Well done Kevin, it was great to put some faces to names last night.

Hopefully I'll get a webcam next time.

07-26-2008, 08:26 PM
Yeah, I think my upload bandwidth is pretty limited. At one point, we reset the modem twice, only for it to lose connection again.

Maybe if a live stream doesn't work out so well in the future we could try a mini documentary then just upload it to youtube?

Thanks everyone for joining us today. It was really great seeing some old faces again as well as some new ones. See you tomorrow!

07-26-2008, 09:26 PM
I was listening to it for about a half hour before I had to leave and I thought it was great. I don't know who the people I saw were, but it was cool to actually see and hear people. You did a good job of launching this at the last minute. Thanks.

07-26-2008, 09:42 PM
Kevin, Brian, Greg,

Thank you for the webmeeting. Despite the technical issues, it was great to see some of the folks and talk with you Kevin & Toodle. Kevin, if you don't get into any trouble over this, it would be worth trying it again (my 2 cents).

Thanks Kevin for trying, If you can make it to The Charlotte meeting, just let me know what you need.

Thanks for the work, we got to see a few people in any event. And it'll help for future gatherings.
