Hi, I'm planning on using a few motors in my show to spin mirrors for lasers, probably end up being computer fans. I was wondering if someone could tell me what I need to do with my diode and what kind I get? All I know is that I need one haha

Thanks Steve :)

Hi, I'm planning on using a few motors in my show to spin mirrors for lasers, probably end up being computer fans. You won't need a diode if you're using the 12 volt DC ones like these, they don't contain brushes and operate completely different. You will need a DC controller though.

Okay that makes things easier haha. Just incase I do end up using small motors how do i set up the diode and what kind of diode do i use? Since I bought like 10 small 5v motors.

Thanks Steve :)

I don't know what your intending to controlled this with but a simple diode is all that's needed to protect it.

Here is one such circuit with the diode added. A 1N4001 (50 volt) diode would be the minimum but any 1n400X diode would work.
