    Default Boscoyo Pixel Pole Mod

I am adding eight pixel poles using the parts from Boscoyo.

Pixels are two inch spaced with four inch spaced wires. This led to a fairly large loop between the pole and strip.

I solved that issue using a zip tie on every single pixel. (Only 1,488 of them!)

The other issue I was having was strip tension. I wanted my pole to have straight crisp lines. I found that trying to tighten the pole ends too much would deform the pole end. And I wasn’t thrilled with the tension by zip tie method.

I solved this two ways. First I placed a 5/16” x 2” solid pin through the pole to keep the heads from sliding up/down when tension was applied.

Then I made wing nut tension adjusters by turning a wing nut upside down to make a “hook” and using a bolt as a tension rod.

This allows me to tension each strip easily with no slipping.

Standard method on right, improved method on left.

Super excited on the improved look.

Those are nice ideas and a noticeable difference. I have seen that product on their site but had never seen a picture of one assembled so very cool to see that too. Nice work!

The wing nut tensioners are interesting. Did you think about using J hooks?

Great ideas. I need to do this to mine before I put them out this year.

I just finished mine. I really like the idea of the tension system. I didn't have any problems with mine sliding but the pin is also a good idea. Thanks for sharing this. If I have issues with mine I'll have to upgrade them.

I did but I couldn’t find any at any of my local stores that had machine threads on them.

Nice mods!! I will have to see if I can find the time to do this before my show starts. It will be a big help!

    Thanks for sharing.
2014 - pretty basic static display
2015 - lots of Blinky Flashy
    5 x Renard SS24
    2 x Renard SS16 for singing trees
    2 x e682 for around 2000 pixels
2016 - Up to around 12,000 pixels and still wanting more.

Another idea: If you dont like the loops on the back of the pixels and do not want to buy so many ty-wraps, we use wax lacing string at work. It is used heavily in the aviation industry on cable bundles. I use the flat type like this: Alpha Wire Model LC-136 BK088 Black Nylon Braided Lacing Cord. It is a little spendy, but 1 roll will last years and if your doing a lot will be cheaper. Just 2 wraps and tie a quick knot, I use a square knot.

Would you recommend 3” wire spacing then? Is that enough to still skip every other hole?
