My DirkCheap SSR Build

My plan for the DirkCheap was to replace the SSRezs in the TA200 boxes that were at my arches. This is what I started with:


I collected my materials, including some Sch40 PVC pipe, caps, a scavenged fused male plug, and the DirkCheap parts:


I soldered in the components for the main ssr, while leaving two of the pcbs attached:


After feeding the wires through the drilled end cap, I attached two sections of CAT5e cable for the signals, and the AC power lead to each pcb:

I then separated my wires to the light strings (70ct incans), connected one lead from each set to the outputs on the pcb, and the connected and soldered the remaining wires in a bundle:


I did a little shrink tubing and slid the caps on, the ended the CAT5e cables:


Finally, I hooked it up to one of the Ren64 and powered it up:

All that is left is some hot glue to seal it all up, and some flat black paint, and it will be good to go!

Wow! The DirkCheap SSR is revolutionary and affordable.
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one with a full basement!

Sadly enough, that's the front end of my extra-deep garage, lol...

I just thought that you could also use the plastic molding kit from Hobby Lobby and create a small waterproof box molded around the SSR.
Maybe I'll try it when mine come.
