EDM transmitters still available?

I asked Google your exact same question:

"Evidence suggests that the original manufacturers of EDM FM Transmitters (EDM Designs) are no longer in active operation, as their products have become widely unavailable and their primary website has disappeared. "

The last time anyone mentioned any contact was here.

Thanks for the response Ernie....

I tried the URL in the link and it goes to some alien looking site...Haha.... I guess they're history... Too bad it's a good radio.... Glad I bought 2 of them a few years back to have backup RDS unit....

Hi,

I have used some EDM transmitters for a long time, but not for Christmas Light applications. I saw this thread pop up on a Google search. I decided to register and provide the information below.

I managed to get in contact with one of the engineers who worked for EDM DESIGN before they closed down due to parts shortage after COVID. I wanted to find out if users can have access to the schematic diagrams to repair their old units and save it from the landfill. He promised to try his best to help. Well, he provided some EDM technical packet which I could share. It is uploaded now on ElectroTanya for download. He is also willing to answer any technical questions where possible. I have used Chat AI to help put together some Theory of Operation from the main RDS schematic, and it is included in download, to be used with the schematic
.

This include:

Hope a lot of members will find it useful.

WOW...Thanks EDMUser.....

You not only answered my original question but you went far beyond by providing a link to all the technical data/schematics etc. Now, if one of my old EDM's gives up the 'ghost' I at least have a chance at repair.

It's too bad they had to close down shop.....a real pity.

Best regards and thanks for the help!

Carl

Carl,

It is a pleasure to help with these legendary old transmitters and try to and keep them going. If there are any more technical engineering questions not in the docs, my contact is willing to help answer. He will also send me anything else related when he can find it.
