i just finished my ledtriks and trik-c put it all together and plugged it in .One problem i had the pic in backwards and it got really hot.
Now the leds on the circuit boards come on and the diag. led blinks but thats it. Could i have fried the pic? |

It sounds like you toasted the LEDTRICK chips. It they were Allegros, they are senative to firing when shorted.

Yep, its possible the Atmel has been toasted.
Interesting that the Diag led is still flashing though... What jumpers do you have set (if any) on the triks C and ledtriks boards? There's a couple of links in the chain that have to be working for the display to work. You have to have the Triks C receiving the serial data from the PC and you need to have the right connections between the triks-c and the ledtriks (and you have to have the appropriate panel setting so that the data is recognised.) Using the triks C in diagnostic mode (regular flashing of the diag led) generates an input to the ledtriks board so you can test the first bit. In normal operation the Diag Led responds to serial port activity so that's the next step to check. Unfortunately, it is possible to damage the output ports of the atmel chip and still have other bits working. But checking the end to end path is another place to start looking if its the first time you've fired it up. I'm not sure that putting the atmel chip in backwards necessarily damages anything on the Ledtriks board... but this also might be an issue to explore. |
