Phil we had discussed putting a safety feature in the FW such that the lights very very slowly dim down if no serial signal is received.... Any more thoughts on this? This would be a great safety feature.Originally Posted by P. Short

I think this would be a great feature, just in case of a system crash, or computer failure. I would hate for all of my lights to be on over night. Is this something taht is fairly easy to implement?Phil we had discussed putting a safety feature in the FW such that the lights very very slowly dim down if no serial signal is received.... If it aint broke, I got a bigger hammer.
It's not to hard to do, although this is a pretty late date. Also, it only protects against a broken cable or Vixen stopping altogether. It wouldn't protect against Vixen getting stuck and sending out the same data forever and ever.

would you mind releasing it and calling it beta?Originally Posted by P. Short
I'm looking into it. The change is easy, and I've already done it, but I will need to spend some time testing it before any sort of 'release'.
Also, the code has gotten a bit crusty, so I'm looking at some cleanup. Part of this will involve adding the ability to independently define the polarity of each pin and whether it is a PWM output or not. Hopefully this won't be to crusty as well from the start.

You realize of the 400 members of DIY, that probably <5% would even be able to understand the ASM, let alone comment on it's eloquenceOriginally Posted by P. Short

Phil,
I took a careful look at it today and I thought it was very well organized and fairly easy to understand the basic concept. Nice job with comments.

Just glad this has been addressed for next year.
Just noticed that the lights have a nasty habit of going ALL ON when the show PC is rebooted.
Thats about triple my power budget.
Not going to pull and reflash 40 PIC chips at this date.
