I emailed my local stations here in Minneapolis and within an hour, I got a call from the local Fox affiliate saying that they will be sending a crew out in the next few nights to shoot some of my show. That's so cool and I am such a nerd.

Hope you have room for the traffic :-). Our local newspaper came did a story last year, took a picture and the whole story ended up on the front page of the paper. I spent 5 hours outside every night 2 weeks up to Christmas managing traffic. Not fun when it was cold and windy or raining. Not to mention, adds a ton of pressure if there's a problem with the show.
But seriously, hopefully everything will work out, and GOOD LUCK!

I know it is super cool to have that for your memories, I am thinking on emailing my local news too for our home but on Christmas eve from like 7-11pm it is wall to wall cars, kids give out candy canes. I have to stop traffic to let people get out of the driveways but fun. I am just not sure if I want to be doing it every night. As i write this I have my email to the news ready just have not hit send. So I gonna do this :heads I will e-mail them, Tails I will will not. Ok here it goes the flip and it is HEADS. So I sent the e-mail. See if I get a response

So far I have had a few cars and one party bus stop by. Kinda dissapointing but we'll see.
My show hasn't been a big hit yet either, I'm planning to call the local paper (This town is boring anyways) and see if I can get an article! The only people that've come by are friends and family, but that's good enough for now. I hope to get this article, I need more viewers!

Back for 2012!
Its tough - the local news is doing an interview for me tommorow - but - this is the year I am thinking that things have the potential to blow up big - traffic has already been quite buzy we will see how see how it goes tommorow.

dirk,
I have enjoyed most of your posts and think you have contributed a great deal, but I feel that your post above was very condescending. Everyone does it for different reasons and it is not for you to pass judgement on those who do it to garner attention and to share with others
This Hobby is a lot of work and very time-consuming and see no problem with wanting to share it with as many people as we wish. Try and look at it the other way... Osgoor publicizes his display and families come to see it together. I can think of no better way to celebrate the Birth of Christ than to have families and friends spending time together viewing the fruits of our labor.
