I have used that basic formula in my True North snow machine. It works just as well as the fluid that I purchased from them when I got my machine. The only difference is that I use distilled water.

Hi guys.
Does anyone use a foam type snow machine please? And if so have you got your own secret recipe you'd like to share?
The only recipe I'm finding anywhere is....
1 cup (8oz) Bubble bath
1 cup (8oz) Rubbing Alcohol (although I don't understand the need for this)
1 to 2 gallons of water.
I've tried this without a very good effect so thought i'd see if anyone else has anything better.
Thanks in advance!![]()

I'm not sure why you are having problems with it, I've had nothing but positive comments. If you look in that article, it explains how to adjust various parts of the mixture to get different results (from huge globs of flakes, to tiny ice storm pellets). Can you describe what the problem is?
Edit: Oh wait, I see you are in the UK and aren't using Mr Bubble. Since you don't have that, look for a cheap kids-version bubble bath. Adult stuff doesn't have the 'sticking' power of the kids stuff (Adult stuff is made to make the person's skin feel nice. Kids stuff is made to play in)
The alcohol in the mixture helps to 'dry out' the flakes, making them lighter. Without it, you get blobs that don't float very well.

Sorry I missed your reply on this last year!
Will try using alternative bubble baths this year. Also, IPA (rubbing alcohol) is toxic, so surely there is an element of danger to adding so much of this to the mix???
Hmmm, snow machine - that would be cool....WAITAMINIT - I had 4 feet of snow in my front yard last year, maybe not such a great idea for me.
Have fun!

A cup (8oz) for 2 gallons (256oz) is really not that much. By the time the 'flake' is actually formed on the sock and blown into the air, I'd be willing to bet that most of it has evaporated away.
We're also not talking about eating the flakes. As an inhalation hazard, I think IPA is low on the list.
As for the bubble bath, I've had 2 UK people tell me that the ASDA store-brand bubble bath worked quite well.

OR.... you could just move to Minnesota -- LAND OF LUTEFISK! and then you have no need for a snow machine... :p

Even though the DIGWDF Store has been closed for almost five years, it's still awesome!
User guides, documentation and other files are still free and available for downloading.
Thanks
