Default Just another boring old Mega Tree

Sorry the video does'nt do justice to this one.. ( they never do ).. But i'm pretty proud of this. Stopped plenty of traffic last night...

The tree is almost a show in itself..

    Answers to FAQ's

*Powersupply.. draws approximately 120A at 5V when fully lit.. I am using 10 x 100W switch mode supplys. Ie it costs less than 5c an hour to run

*The top of the tree is about 6m from the ground

    * 2000 RGB leds.

    * Software: Quartz composer, madrix, walker design ( compatible with vixen btw )

    * How long to sequence this show; about 10 minutes!

    * How long to put up? about 2 days.. But coudl rebuild in half a day, have learned a few tricks.

For the curious, 2,000 RGB nodes == 6,000 channels of DMX == 12 (!) Enttec DMX USB Pro dongles.

However, with the nifty Art-Net bridge we've been working on, the system is much, much less complex.

Control can take place over regular networking equipment, including (if you trust it to be stable) garden-variety 802.11 wireless gear.

I see an LED-Triks board made out of this - our own Daktronics scoreboard like at the big sports arenas.

    That is AWESOME!!

I Could take down everything else and run just one lonely tree and they would never leave.

    Congratulations gentlemen
You two have just become independently wealthy.

I foresee your only remaining problem keeping up with demand.

I would like a 3 meter model. Less cost, easier to secure from winds.

If I no longer count channels... but instead say I have over 12 universes... Is that too many
