Need help making letters using rope light

My sign is affixed to galvanized wire fencing which has 2" x 4" spacings. You can buy it in rolls at home improvement or farm supply stores.

I used MS Word to find a font and layout that I liked. Then I overlayed a grid 2x4 grid scaled to the size I wanted. I transferred the points where the letters cross on the grid to the fencing, and wire tied the rope light at all crossings. Electrical tape covers breaks and extra bits of rope.

Sorry...no pictures of it actually hanging up.

Thanks for all the great info you all have given me. I took it all in and I have put my first part of "Jesus is the Reason for the Season" sign I plan on using this year. I used the 2X4 welded wire and used a 2X2 wooden frame to hold the wire and MS Word to get my letters and I came up with this. As I stated it is my first and I hope to get better at forming the letters.

Do a search for "Merry Christmas" signs here and on Planet Christmas and you'll find three or four different "how to's" and link's to other peoples using robe light. I'm sure you'll learn about fonts that work and how big you need to go to work.
