Somewhat of a design question. I'm looking for a case for my dimmer project and the Keptel seems to be popular here. For the Keptel to work I need to have two levels of electronics since the length and width aren't sufficient to hold everything.
My plan was to have a lower high voltage level for SSR boards (8 total), and and upper low voltage level for control electronics. The depth spec for the CG-1000 is 2.25". What I can't tell from the spec is if this is just the rear tray excluding the door or if its the entire internal depth. Anyone know for sure what this measurement includes?

I would say that that would be the entire internal depth (since I have a LOT of them)
The CG1500 is a bit bigger - and does have about one more inch of height.
The 1500 claims to be twice as deep (4.5").
Where I was going with this was if that measurement was from the lip of the back tray to the bottom that would be enough room for SSRs and wire. Then I could use the covers additional space for the control electronics.

For the bottom of the housing see the attached .bmp. Now for the top. The cover is not flat and the sides are not at 90 degrees from the bottom. The cover gets smaller the further from the standoffs it gets. It is also not flat but concave. Lets start with the width, hinge side to lock side, That is 8 1/4 inches where it meets the bottom and 8 inches at the front. Top to bottom it is 8 1/2 inches tall where it meets the base and 8 1/4 inches at the front. The height is 1 3/8 in the center of the cover going from hinge side to lock side. Height is 1" at the top and bottom of the cover, at its shallowest, in the 4 corners.

2013 stats, if all goes as planned:
2688 pixels, 4 E68x, 1450 RGB leds, 90 DMX channels
So fkostyun was correct, the depth measurment is take from the lid/door to the bottom of the back/tray with the door closed.
Grrr, I was hoping to stay with the smaller one.

Thank you for the information, easier to ask than to buy.
Side Note: Why is it so hard to find a case that doesn't cost $70 that fits all my electronics, in a way that I'm happy with, and isn't ginormous. *sigh*
