    Default Pixelated image with projector

    Hi
I have a projector that natively has the resolution of 1280x800. When I plug my computer to it and play a video it looks great.

But when I plug the HDMI from the Rasp Pi 3+ the image is really pixelated when set up as a virtual matrix. It looks like a 240p video
The settings in both xlights are set as # strings = 72 and Nodes/strings = 128 which is 27648 channels.
The FPP is set as a virtual Matrix in Output channels (Other) tab with the same horizontal of 128 and vertical as 72.

The video file itself is 1280x720 when inserted into xlights.

Anyone have any ideas as to making it better please?

Those settings are very similar to my virtual matrix. Have you forced the HDMI output in FPP for the Pi? I know that was a setting I missed first time through.

Thanks, yeah I did play with that setting as I saw it on a video.
Then overnight I remembered something from a while ago that I should attach it to the sequence in FPP rather than insert it into the sequence. Is that correct?

I don't do it but this seems to be part of the magic sauce. In particular, you read about it in the manual or just try what they suggest the posts from 2018. If you look in the manual, search for Playing Video.

So. I did some tests where I attached the video to the sequence in FPP and the image was perfect. This is fine if the whole sequence has the video playing through it.
What if I had a sequence where the video is part way through and mixed in with Xlights effects. How does that work?

You have to do a video in the same aspect as video projection mapping you have to build layers on a video precisely and what you don't want to see you make black out layers sections.

There is another way as well. I don't know the exact procedure but you could set up a trigger on a command. Your sequence sends a specific value and FPP listens for that value and executes a command when it is received. The command would be play video or open projector shutter. You'd probably have to play with the timing as it might take a bit to actually start playing. The FPP manual on page 81 describes the process.
