Default F8-PB controller & FPP Network key?

**I posted this in the Pixel & Pixel Controller forum, so wasn't sure where to place, feel free to move or delete the other one. Found this after I posted.

    Hello All,

It's been a year since I've played around with my F8-PB Controller with the added Beagle board/screen. I have the USB Wi-Fi adapter, and the image is on the SDcard from last year and I had it all working without issue. I turn it on this year and it doesn't connect to my wireless, but shows a IP of 192.168.8.1 which is not anything on my network. When I look on the wireless on my PC I can see a network named "FPP" but it asked for a Security Key and I have no idea what that is lol. Any help? I honestly don't remember how I configured it all last year this sucks lol.

    Thanks ahead of time!

Do you have a USB to mini-USB cable. Bypass WiFi with the cable to the mini-USB port on your PocketBeatle and USB to your computer. access PB either 192.168.8.1 or 192.168.7.2 Fix WiFi

You can connect to the FPP network with the password Christmas. Then go to 192.168.8.1 to reconfigure your instance of fpp.

    Thanks,

So connected to FPP and got in and configured network with a static IP of 192.168.1.63 and setup the Subnet and Gateway and DNS. Then Selected my wireless name and inputted the correct Security Key Click on Update and then rebooted and it just doesn't take no matter how many times I try.

Ok so it's working now. It does drop occasionally but I have a feeling a update might fix that since it's been a while. So here is the problem now and I will be totally honest I haven't tough this for the last year and EVERYTHING I did as far as getting Xlights to talk to FPP and setting it all up is gone out of my memory. I even created a nice little sequence with my lights with a 2:40 long song, nothing crazy but it was my first "TEST" and now I can load the sequence fine in Xlights and then I do a FPP connect and upload everything to FPP successfully. What I don't remember is in Xlights in the Controllers tab there was a section or something where I gave labels to each segment of lights (i.e. Tree 1, Wreath 1, etc..) I don't remember how I did that.

ANY HELP would be appreciated. My kids are already giving me a hard time lol.

You want to hit the "upload output" button on the controller tab. That will transfer all of your outputs from Xlights to FPP and give them the same labels that you did in Xlights.

Remember with the PB to select "V2 Sparse/zstd" in the "FSEQ Type" when you are doing the FPP upload. I didn't realize that the first time and my colors and props were all off when the sequence was running. I also had issues when I selected the models also be uploaded at the time of FPP connect, leaving that box unchecked and everything works great!

Ok got all that stuff right EXCEPT and I think that's what I'm forgetting is in Xlights where do I create the labels for each string? I can't remember lol.

Ok here's another things I have about 23 strings of 50 lights. I don't necessarily need to use all of them but let's say HALF. I obviously don't have time to put them up, I was going to lay them across the bushes and plants in the front yard. What can I do in Xlights to just have a cool effect loop that maybe changes colors occasionally etc..?

I think you mean just the name of the Model right? If so on the Layout tab when you create a new model, i.e. draw a poly line or add an arch or tree the first line for that section is called "Name".

For your lights question, I would just draw each one as a single or poly line. Now when I say each one I mean each bush or however you choose that you want to control them. You can combine the 50 light strings to however long you want, just specify in the model section the total # of nodes for that model. Then in Xlights add any effect to that model when creating the sequence. When all is created you can then upload the sequence file to FPP and have it play on a loop so you don't have to make the sequence incredibly long if you want a long loop.

Oh sounds like EXACTLY what I need. Now Attached is what I created last year and the outline of my house. Obviously I don't have all the stuff like the Stars, Tree, Arches it's just to see what I could do and attached is the sequence I created to the Song by Disney called "A Christmas Fantasy" for my first go last year it was AWESOME and as much as I tried and could have maybe tried a little harder I just didn't get time to put PERMANENT lights under my eaves because I was stuck on either doing it myself or buying premade. Soooo on that note I don't remember how I created the layout section lol like AT ALL not even the first step. I'm literally going to have to train myself all over again which sucks but so glad I have you all to help me out and be patient so I really do appreciate it. I'm going to try as you suggest and create the Poly line when I create new project do I have to tell it Musical Sequence or Animation? Or ?
Also, in my uploads, if you see something that looks off please feel free to questions as I'm totally a NEWB to all this and still learning and maybe I have something set that is making my life difficult.

    Thanks again!
