    Default Automotive Connectors & Polarity

With these automotive connectors is there some convention which one is negative and which one positive?

Polarity is what you decide since there are pins to solder to. Just be consistent of course. And fuse your positive rail.

I suspected there is no norm except my norm. I just wanted to make sure before I start creating a bunch of those. Thanks!

My method is 1 is always +, and - is always the last pin. (I use 2,3, and 4 pin in my display)
    2012 - 1st year 64 Channels - 7500 LED lights - 5 sequences
    2013 - 128 Channels - 10,000 LED lights - 7 sequences (2 New)
    2014 - 201 Channels - upgrading 8 Arches to dumb RGB - 8+ sequences (1+ New)
    2015 - 240 Channels + 8 Universes - sequences TBD
    2016 - No Display
    2017 - Back in the Game - 240 Renard Channels + 12 Universes
    2018 - 256 Renard and 9 Falcon Outputs of Pixels - 16 sequences shown over 2 nights
    2019 - 256 Renard and 9 Falcon Outputs of Pixels - 16 sequences shown over 2 nights
2020 - Emergency Conversion to Falcon F48 with limited wireless

Hmm, I was going to do this the opposite way, i.e. pin 1 being -/ground/reference and then other pins measuring against pin 1. Is there any particular reason you have + on pin 1 or is this just preference?

You set your own standard. Do it how ever it's easier for you to do or remember.
I have 2pin and 3pin. On 2pin I always put V+ or D+ on pin 1 and V- on pin2. On 3pin V+ on pin 1, D+ in the middle pin2, and V- on pin 3. That is my standard and I have it wrote down and stick to it. Some of my connectors don't have numbers so I have a male and female made up with my standard with red, green and black wire to represent V+, D+ and V- so I can refer to it to make sure I put them together properly even without numbers on them.
A bit to get use to but I really like using them on all my pixels.

No reason other than it is easy for me to remember. You just need to be consistent.

I use 2, 3 and 4 pin versions of those on my setup. I'm not aware of any specific conventions.

I'm using A as positive and landscape wire using the side with labeling as positive. Just the way I figured felt right.
