    Default Spotlights recommendations wanted please

    Hi
I'm after 2 or three RGB spotlights that I can connect to D1 mini chips or have the WS2811 protocol in them.
Has anyone bought any from Aliexpress that they can recommend?

Please bear in mind, I'm in New Zealand so shipping needs to be a consideration.

    Thanks in advance.

How bright do you want them?

I got some 10W RGB LED floodlights with remote control from eBay (I know you want spotlights....), ripped out the innards and replaced with this driver board

You can see them in action on my YouTube channel (same as my username here)

They do an RGB and an RGBW version I think. I got the RGBW version, so I replaced the RGB LED lamp with the RGBW version supplied with the board, it's the same size. I essentially kept just the housing. The RGBW version uses 4 channels on your WS2811 data stream as you'd expect. For sequencing purposes I consider it as two units, a RGB lamp and a single colour White lamp, at the same physical location.

You will of course need to think about WS2811 signal degradation if your units are going to be more than a few m from each other or from the signal source.

I would recommend RGBW - the white you get is much more natural than the RGB mix.

This is a UK seller of RGB spots - I bet they use those square 'floodlight' LED chips inside, but can't say for sure. The floodlight type housings can be bought for much less.

There are online sellers of ready-made WS2811 floods (though know you want spots!)
