    Default LED color change even in pause (Vixen)

    Hello everybody,
    I hope it is the correct section, as I don't know if I have a software problem or data transmission interference.
    I looked on the internet and then I made 10 mini trees with stars;
    I used:
    - led ws2811 Ø12mm DC5V 100pcs (80 tree + 20 star - 1st and 51st power supply)
    - DC 5V 60A power supply
    - software on pc Vixen 3 (16x5 grid + star)
    - ESP32 connected to a TP-Link Archer d5 router
    - in this case I used “Angus40 ( http://doityourselfchristmas.com/for...-modules/page2 )” ESP program (10 universes)
    - universe 1 - GPIO 23
    universe 2 - GPIO 22
    universe 3 - GPIO 21
    universe 4 - GPIO 19
    universe 5 - GPIO 18
    universe 6 - GPIO 17
    universe 7 - GPIO 16
    universe 8 - GPIO 26
    universe 9 - GPIO 27
    universe 10 - GPIO 25
    I have checked all the connections but I have a problem related to single colors while for white I don't have this problem so pronounced.
    Tests carried out (I put link of the dropbox folder because I have several large files https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tnf2el5o2...VM12PoUFa?dl=0 ):
    1- Static white 10 trees
    2- Static white only trees 5-6-7-8
    3- Static green 10 trees
    4- Static red 10 trees
    5- Static blue 10 trees
    6- Fade white 10 trees
    7- Alternating green/red 10 trees
    8- Alternating green/red only tree 1
    9- Alternating green/red only shaft 8 (1)
    10- Alternating green/red only shaft 8 (2)
    11- Butterfly Effect 10 trees
    12- Circles Effect 10 trees
    13- Circles Effect “paused” 10 trees

    I don't understand why the colors change even in pause
    Could the power cables be too close to the data cables?

    Is there anyone who has had similar problems or does he know what it can be about?

    I immediately thank anyone who has information to solve this annoying problem

    available for any other information that may be of use

    Good day
    Graziano

    if you are using the arduino make shore the ground from the power supply is conected yo the ground on the board and check the voltage after every 2 or 3 strips of lights.

    hello mr fix,

    yes I use arduino, the esp32 is connected directly to the power supply (DC5V 60A) where the V + and V- of the strips also start.

    the trees are not aligned but parallel (I feed each tree);
    at the end of each strip (100 LEDs) I have the voltage;
    for safety I made additional power supply after 50 leds

    should be corrected but i still have color variation problems ... not the usual flicker due to V-, though (at least I think)

    Reading your description I do not get a good sense of the problem you are experiencing. On a single string you are seeing colors change when there is no E1.31 data going to the ESP? Or is there a variation so that when you set all of the Pixels to blue some of them are other colors or are you seeing an intensity variation along the length of one or more strings?

    2021 New Tune-to sign. New 40x27 matrix at the house. Retiring the Strip based matrix. Updating some of the old window frames to the new house. Adding two new songs.
    2020 Full sized show reworked for the new location. Only adding (famous last words) 13 RBLs that I finally got converted to using pixels
    2019 - Just moved into a new home (yet another change of plans). Will be dim but not dark. Too much to do at the new place to leave time for a show. Dim show (3000 pixels) had regular visits most nights.

    I did a further test:
    esp32 connected V + and V- (near the VIN "5V") to the power supply;
    the strings, V + to the power supply and V- to the GND close to 3V3 of the esp32 ...

    unfortunately the result does not change, always the same problem.

    Hi Martin,

    I don't know if it can be useful to you
    I put some short clips in my drobpbox and shared the link

    the problem seems generic, it is not on a string but on almost all.
    I noticed that even if the pixels have no data they light up randomly ...
    if I set effects with only one color, some pixels go crazy and change color ...
    I have no intensity variations

    thank you

    what type of wire are you using to power and feed the signal to the leds.
    are you using a cat5 or a cat6 cable to feed power and signal?

    mr fix

    from the box to the trees I am using shielded cables with a length that varies between 0,5m (20") and 2m (6.5').
    Inside there are three cables (copper wires) with a section of about 1,5mm (0.06 ") two of these cables are for V + and V- the third for data..

    I hope it is useful to you

    thanks

    ps:sorry, I wanted to post some images but it won't let me upload. I put the photos of my cable in the dropbox here is the link

    i had a similar problem once while building a magic tree When I ran the power wire too close to the signal for communication there was a lot of interruption within the lines causing similar effects try to keep the signal wires away from power wires and don't use twisted wires like in a cat 5 or cat 6 to run your signal it seems to cause magnetic field interference.

    mr fix
    OK, thanks a lot
    I have to disassemble all the connections to the shafts
    I will try to make different connections
    maybe today I can't, tomorrow

    I will let you know
