Ideas on how to control lights via WIFI from a relay

what I have is a AquaPure plus iAqualink Pool Control System that uses an APP or a Remote to control the Pool and accessories, I programmed in my
Yard Malibu Lights and wired the Timer to a relay inside the control box. I would also like to control the Lights over the pool, they are string LED market style lights
but the Switch that controls them are in the garage. I know there are switches that can be controlled by Alexa or Google or from a remote, what I need is more basic
inside the control box are omron gl7-2a-tubj-cb Relays..


what I am looking for is a wireless module that when the Relay clicks on or a 24v signal from the control board it turns on a remote switch.
I have been searching for a commercial product but they all use a little hand held remote to activate the switch.
or they use the Google / Alexa.

I even looked into modifying the hand held remotes to wire up to the relay but the remotes are click on, click off, the relay is always on or off.

I am not smart enough in electronics to design a circuit that would do that.

I wrote out a technical response of using MQTT and a pi and a WiFi module but then realized that the OP said they were not that technical.

I used this to fix my daughters garage door opener that was no longer working, so if you can wire the relay contacts across the pushbutton then when the relay closes the relay in the remote box will close, as long as the button is being "pressed" Not elegant but might work for you. However the range on these things isn't great so a wifi solution would work better.

Thats not going to work, since it requires a human to push a button. I want the APP from the Pool Controller to ber the button pusher.

I can program the App to turn on or off any item that is wired to the box but the Lights I have are 10 meters away and I really do not want to go through the digging a ditch, running wire, drill holes, mounting boxes and so on.

I really just want the poolbox to go click, a transmitter sends the signal to the receptacle, and the lights go on.
I really can't believe that there is no product that has a transmitter that can be operated using a relay.

The first line is when I push the On button the second one is the off button.
I tried using the Arduino to transmit the binary code to the plug but it did not work, although I hear the transmitter working from a noise from my speakers.
so I wonder if the Plug requires the data to be in Hexadecimal?
Not sure where to go from here though. even if this works I would still need a circuit to store the code to be transmitted.
I guess I could program the data on a Nano for it to send.

I made some changes after it still was not turning the outlet on/off. I thought maybe I could use the Tri-state or Decimal code, but they did not work either.
this writeup is 3 years old, I will bet there were some changes to the power plug. maybe why it does not work now.

The other post with the 245.00 relays looks good, but 1 mile really, don't they have a lower power one for less??
it would still cost me more to dig a ditch, run pipe, wire, bust up concrete, drill hole..

There was another one that was more like what Utimgr had mentioned, but the issue I have with hacking a push button remote is reliability

Not the cheapest way to go, but you can do this with insteon smart home products. Their IO link is a GPIO module that can sense the closure from your pool controller.

This would then be paired to an insteon switch/module of your choosing that's wired to the load. Here's a decora style on/off relay switch. They also make plug-in and outlet versions and versions with dimmers.

These aren't WiFi. They use a dual band technology that uses powerline communication and proprietary wireless for redundancy. For this application just a simple link between the iolink and switch is needed, no need for the app or any other software. These modules will give you the direct wire reliability you're looking for.

I was not really looking at cheap,

I Race cars, and there is a saying that you can only have two out of three criterias in Race Car building
1) Cheap
2) Fast
3) Reliable

if you want Cheap and Fast it won't be Reliable
if you want Fast and Reliable it won't be Cheap
if you want Cheap and Reliable it won't be Fast.

I think the same would apply here as well. LOL

I was able to figure this out, I purchased on EBAY a device used for HVAC Systems, IO-WRBM Transceivers.
since HVAC systems run on 24VAC and use Relays and contacts i figured this would work.

I benched tested it and it works.



And there is a plus, it has 4 channels, so I could run other items from the Pool Controller
