    Default How many lights can Arduino control and Vixen in sequence?

    I have WS2812B 5050 RGB LED Strip 5M 300 Leds 60LED/M Individual Addressable 5V I'm using Vixen to do the light effects and send the data though Arduino using the chase effect which works great when controlling 144 lights in sequence but when I step it up to control 300 lights in sequence the effect is skipping lights. I have looked online and can only find info of 144 lights being controlled though Vixen. I would like to know is this normal to only be able to control 144 lights using Vixen and Arduino?

    I can program though Arduino software and the lights chase great. However I would like to use Vixen to save on coding as I'm not good at coding.

    There are limits to the speed of the communication. How fast are you communicating at? Which arduino are using? Which sketch are you using?
    Considerations...
    sequence timing (for example 25 ms, 50ms, 100 ms)
    Speed of communication.
    Coding technique
    Processor speed.

    The wiki in the renard protocol section has a chart that has theoretical limits at various speeds.

    Vixen can handle over 100,000 pixels without an issue.

    This is more likely a limit of the communications between the PC and the Arduino, or the Arduino sketch itself. You should be able get at least one or maybe two universes worth of LEDs on a typical Arduino Uno. But you'll need to have some really efficient arduino code to push much beyond that. The ATMega chip on the arduino isn't all that powerful.
