I always buy the cheap floods, then scrap the electronics and replace with what I want. However, not all "outdoor floods" can be opened up easily (especially the more recent ones)--they are often epoxy/glued shut.
Hi, I may add some dumb floods to next years show (I run all AC so using a pixel controller is a bit overkill even though I do have a pixcon16 laying around). I saw that Ray Wu has them, but shipping is kinda expensive (over $30 for 3 floods!!!). Where does everyone buy them? Also does anyone convert those ones you can buy on Ebay for like $5 and free shipping to work? Im talking about the ones that have a built in controller with remote. Can I just scrap everything but the LED chip itself and the housing and then use some like 5w resistors or something for a driver to run off 12v?? Thanks!

Do you just use the correct resistor or some type of regulator board?
I've inserted my own driver boards (for smart LEDs).
Thanks, just what I needed! Ill try to find some that use screws.
What drivers did you use? Do you happen to have a link?
I've created my own drivers and LED modules:

Cool thanks!
I also have my own drivers for the generic 10W and 50W RGB LED COBs
