Looking to get a picket programmer

Went to look at the microchip pickit 3 and appears the 3 is no longer made by them and the 4 is out and at $60-$70 seems steep. Anyone use the 4 and know if it works ok? Also what would you recommended buying that does work as there are a ton of options of pickit 3 programmers but not sure which ones to trust and not trust when looking. I am new to alot of this and searched the forums and found several older posts on this so wanted to bring it up if there is something newer that makes more sense to buy now.

I purchased a PicKit3 this year. Worked great for the PICs I had to program. I bought mine from Amazon for ~$23.

The ica03 from picciruit ebay and it has worked great for me. Easy to see and use. I paid about 30.00. and they sent a link for software.

There have been a lot of knock-offs on Ebay and Amazon.
