Default Will this work to program PICS

Will this configuration work to program the PICS for my SS24? I should have asked first, but I've already purchased it..

If you are looking for experience with that particular device, none. If you are looking for some confidence that you are picking the right thing, you did good! It should work for both older and newer chips used in our hobby controllers including the ss24.

Thanks Mike, exactly what I needed to know.. lol
I wasn't sure if I had bought the correct item. It comes with no instructions, so I'm doing research now on how to use it, especially how to use the ZIF adapter...

Looks like the same one I use, without issue.

Thanks, I'll probably be back with questions if I can't figure it out...

It should work. However, that is not the official PICKit from Microhip. That is a knockoff and YMMV

2020 Full sized show reworked for the new location. Only adding (famous last words) 13 RBLs that I finally got converted to using pixels
2019 - Just moved into a new home (yet another change of plans). Will be dim but not dark. Too much to do at the new place to leave time for a show. Dim show (3000 pixels) had regular visits most nights.

Yes, thanks. No luck so far, but I'm sure it's just my ignorance.. I'll eventually figure it out.

Back of the ZIFF socket will give you the jumper setting for the different PICs mostly based on the # of pins. For a 16f688 (14Pin) you will see a line about 2/3 of the way down the ZIFF socket (line 20?) that is where you need to place the PIC, Pin1 (and 14) should be @ or just below that line.

You also need to have the Pickit3 software on your PC

    Topcat,

If you don't have an answer by the end of the day, I will post a picture of what mine is set up as. In that ziff socket the PIC does not actually sit all the way to the top or bottom (like Ruppro said). I ended up marking pin #1 on mine with a sharpie so I know where they need to sit.

Thanks all, I've been reading and watching videos.. I have the PickIT 3 software on my computer but the PIC16F688 doesn't show up as a selection. I'll do more trials tonight when I get home. I'll check the ZIF socket circuit board for the location info, (i Didn't know about that) Also probably re-install the software.

ChiefWarrant: Any reference photos would be helpful, thanks. I'll post progress as it happens.. LOL
    Thanks again to all!
