    Default Can't access web interface from mobile

    So I have the webserver on, points to http:hostname-pc:8887 (hostname being by pc hostname). I can access it from any pc connected to the same network as the pc hosting vixen, I've tried this both on my normal internet connected network, and my standalone show network on a different router entirely. When I am exclusively connected to that same network as the vixen pc on a mobile device/tablet, and no other networks and good reception, everytime I try to visit the page, it throws me a generic page not found error. I tried using the vixen pc IP with the port, and no luck. Any ideas? I'm not connected to the mobile network at the time and tried multiple devices. Same result no matter which router i'm on. Kind of wondering if it has anything to do with how the mobile interface handles a local hostname as the page address? Do I have to edit the hosts file or something? PS: no firewall, a/v on the router or pc during testing to rule it out

    Did you add/accept the firewall exceptions when vixen ran the first time?
    Is the Vixen PC on the same network location type as when you accepted the firewall rule additions? (home/work/public?)
    Have you changed the webserver port since you did that?

    Can you access the webserver from any other computer on the same network as the vixen PC? If so then the windows firewall is set up correctly.

    Can you ping the vixen PC from the device where the web page won't load?

    I'd recommend trying by using the IP address until you know that works. Then move on to trying by hostname.

    Yes, firewall exception is in place accepted. I CAN connect to the webserver page on ANY pc that is connected to the same network as the vixen pc. I've also tried switching the network between my dedicated show wifi network on one router, to connecting it to my home internet network to see if maybe it was a router setting or the router that didn't like it. No difference. It only fails when I try to connect with another os, in this case, android os. I've tried it on my samsung note 9, a galaxy s7, and a few different tablets. All of them disconnected from any mobile network (in the case of the phones, tablets have no mobile network) and only connected to the network that the vixen pc is connected with. Any windows pc on the same network can access the page. This is my second year having this issue, but I never brought it up last year. However, it did work before that, but a totally different pc and network. That's why I am wondering if it could have anything to do with the way android handles punching in a local address. It sometimes tries to search it instead of taking it as a url unless the http(s) is included.

    Download the fing app and run a scan of your network, see if it shows the PC in the results

    We're all iOS mobile devices in my house so I can't speak to android's behavior. But in general, most browsers these days will default to a search when you just type in a bare hostname. If you preface it with "http://" That will generally force it to try to connect to it as a host.

    But in general, if you can access it from any browser on any other PC, you know that Vixen is working properly, and the firewall rule is correct. From there on out, it's networking and client troubleshooting.

    following along here to. I can access the vixen web access with desktop, laptop, but not cell phone (android). Tried the same thing making sure i was on home wifi, turned off data - same results.

    What browser does Android use these days? I am in the iPhone / iPad camp here with iOS along with most of my inner circle. I'll have to see if I can find anyone I know with an Android and test it.

    Depends on the phone. I've tried it with chrome, Firefox and the built in Samsung browser. I tried to see if it would work by using the actual pc ip instead of the hostname, so http://192.168.1.78:8887 instead of http://mypc:8887.

    I thought the same thing about the browser doing a search but I've tried http and https in front as well. Another thing, I have wemos d1 minis running the espixel stick firmware. Literally all I did with those is give it the wifi ap for the same exact network the laptop connects to and password. These also connect directly to vixen via the same pc, ip and network. With those, if I punch the Wemos ip I assigned into any device connected to that network, it can access the interface for it no problem. So we know the device can communicate through the network with the pc. One thing I wondered is that the laptop is connected to two networks. One direct Lan wires to the e682, and lists as a network without internet, and the wifi network that communicates with everything (and also sends the vixen data to the Wemos sticks).
