    Default BBB - Matrix Freeze

Added a Matrix this year and using it in one sequence at the moment. Using lipsync images and 1 butterfly effect. When it gets the butterfly effect it goes black - freezes. It comes back about a minute later into the sequence. I put the BBB in standalone mode to test the sequence and it stops right at the time the butterfly effect should start.

Using 3 outputs to 5 panels from the DIYLEDEXPRESS Scroller
Would using 5 outputs to 3 panels help?

Could it be a power issue? I have some snowflakes that I had to limit brightness on because if they all go full bright then they lost power to the microcontroller and require a reboot

Thanks. I wasn't thinking power, but after going back and doing the math I realized that I'm going to need 2 PS for my Matrix. Thanks again.

I recall reading that you should use as many outputs as you can while trying to balance the number of panels to outputs. So, in your case, yes, do 5 outputs at 3 panels each.

I am running 1 5V p/s to run my 20 panel P5 matrix and have zero issues.

How about posting a screenshot of your FPP outputs and of your BBB configuration?

Added another PS to the Matrix and still have a problem with the BBB becoming unresponsive when a whole matrix effect is played. The only thing I can think of trying is to use 5 outputs from the scroller instead of 3. Is this the way the panel layout whould look? Is there something else I should be looking at?

I would do something more like this where all the "P1"'s are pretty close together. Stick the BBB someplace around where all 5 "P1" are. Keeps the cords from the BBB a bit shorter. (change up/down arrow as needed)

    How are your outputs configured?

Sorry I'm somewhat confused. If I do my output as Dan has recommended....do I need to physically put O-4 1&2 upside down to get the I/O going the right direction or do I need a long ribbon cable to get from the output of P-1 to the input of P-2?
