Plenty short. Are you sure the V- is making a solid connection through the wire? I got this sort of issue when my connectors were bad and the V- was not rock solid.
2019 - Just moved into a new home (yet another change of plans). Will be dim but not dark. Too much to do at the new place to leave time for a show.

Something I have been meaning to post for a week or so about my 12v Pixels. Redid the wiring on my 251 pixel star for Mega Tree and did a test. All's good. then I ran a sequence and
in a effect there was a twinkle in one of the layers. Thought I was seeing red where it should not be. Open xlights and run a white twinkle and sure enough, red. Long story short, VOLTAGE!
PSU was outputting 12.4, turned it down to 11.8 and the red went away. Later when I got the wife to help, she held the meter on the output while running the twinkle and I adjusted
the out put. 12.4v I had some white pixels go red and at 12.3v no red at all, everything was white. These Pixels will be 5 years old in January, not the newer ones. One other thing,
I only had the red at the lower twinkle, 10% but at 50% they were all white. And when stopping the test some pixels would stay red. Just food for thought.
Rayhjr I Love This Stuff!
In the end..
Bad 3 pin connector. V- pin was making intermittent contact
Thanks All
Cheers!

I had that issue on a string, and it ended up being a poor connection on the screw terminals of that port in the e682.
