What about coil separation, pitch and diameter? Those parameters were crucial in the formulas I found online.
I used to do that with CB and Marine Vhf radios in aircraft. I cut at 1/8" increments for both. Does'nt take much to make a big change when you get close.

Look for examples on the 2 Meter HAM antennas, 2 Meter is around 144Mhz, FM radio band is around 2.7(3) meter wave length.

These were premade antennas, they had the wire straight at the end, and you cut for minimum vswr. As far as antenna design, that is best left to an antenna engineer. I do think we are over thinking this though. Test with a cheap transmitter, then move over to your more expensive transmitter.
If you can measure low VSWR at the frequency of interest then you should not be able to harm the transmitter as you are not reflecting the power back.
Low VSWR does not promise the devised antenna is a good radiator, the receiver end has to tell you that.
A 50 or 75 ohm resistor will give you a good VSWR but rarely act as a great antenna.
