    Default North Pole help

I built these north poles a few years back. Itís a very simple setup with led c9 bulbs in each that just plug in and stay on. Iíd like to make my entry into automation this year and Iíd like to start with these poles. Iíd love to hear what you all would do with them and hopefully those ideas can be my start.

I have a single one I use with my holiday hotline. You have a TON more, but ai used an Arduino and a Small handful of pixels to fade between different colors to make it a little different.

You can see some of it here:

Thinking those would be cool with bullet nodes to change colors and brightness to do chasing patterns and such . Great looking by the way

We put WS2811 pucks inside each of ours. Though these are not the exact ones, the idea is the same. http://tlh.pixelledlight.com/landsca...led-point.html Works like a champ.

Thanks, nobody in our neighborhood is doing automation and the feedback on these north poles has been great. Do you think a single bullet node in each would be bright enough? The 2 capabilities I'm going for would be chasing, fading, and twinkling effects. I'm thinking for a good fade a brighter led would be great.

Also, any recommendations on the rest of the equipment? I'm really a greenhorn when it comes to this stuff but I have a background in electronics in USMC and currently work as a network engineer so it should all come easy once I'm set in the right direction. It's seems there so many different controllers. Does each Christmas forum lean towards one brand?

Are the globes youíre using just the basic type of light-fixture globe that you get from a hardware store?

If so, thatís also what I use in my show at the top of my 9 trees.

A single bullet LED isnít bright enough. I use 6 of these modules in each globe:

I like this option. I believe my current bulbs have 3 LEDs in each and I believe 150lm. I was thinking 300lm would be great.

    Yes, basic acrylic globes. https://www.superiorlighting.com/6-i...-opal-acrylic/

So at 38LM each that would put me at 345lm which is right about where i'd like to be.
