Those are definitely a very cool design, simple and effective. If you’re going for the icicles, those are a good way to go.

I guess mine are more “meteor/snowfall tubes” than “icicles.”

Yeah those look cool too. I guess effect wise, those are very different approaches to what one would call an icicle. The helter skelter look of these ones does give it a more organic look, and does look good, but when it's inconsistently pointed you would certainly have a limit as to what fx you could achieve. Not that this is a problem, it just depends on how you use them. I like both to honest. I have two big trees similar to what bwinter has that he is using the icicles in. I almost think I could do both. The helter skelter version for between the deck pillars/overhang, and the bwinter streaming type for the trees

I was actually pretty hyped when I saw the video, because I've see that style in use commercially and loved it, but never found any that truly replicated it for sale

I REALLY liked the commercial snowfall/meteor tubes as well, especially randomly hanging in large trees. then I noticed 1) they’re not controllable (as compared to ws281x), and 2) expensive.

So this was my goal the last couple years: My 2017-model icicles were too-short, and had a clumsy daisy-chain/connections. 2018-model were twice as long, and all connected by those modules I developed.

I eventually am planning to use that module to control clusters of stars (or something?).
