    Default Ws2811 Pixel string

    Hi I'm just clarifying:

Do WS2811 pixel strings run a controller per 3 nodes in a similar fashion to the WS2811 LED strips?
I'm looking to buy these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32932655554.html
It looks like there is a controller per each pixel as per the photo. I asked the seller the question and he didn't really answer the question. I don't think he understood the question.

    Thanks
    Duane

Each node has an ic chip so each node is addressable.

Ws2811 pixels have one IC per node. Which can be addressed individually.

You are making a set of classic mistakes in your explanation. Each WS2811 IC / Chip is a single RGB Driver 'node'. NONE of these driver nodes are addressable. In fact they are more like the Renard protocol in that each node consumes 24 bits of data (8 bits for each of Red/Green/blue) and then passes the rest of the data through to the rest of the string. If you cut out a 'node' then the next node in the string takes it place in the data consumption hierarchy.

Typically a WS2811 'node' drives one or more Tri-Color (RGB) LED devices. A WS2811 based bullet node usually has a single Tri-color LED connected to the WS2811 driver. Many 12v WS2811 based strips use three Tri-color LED devices connected in Series to the WS2811 Driver. I have seen strips with five Tri-Color devices attached to the WS2811 pixel node.

In our current usage of the term "controller" we tend to mean the device that converts the data from the show player into a "bit" stream with the proper timing to drive the WS2811 driver chips in your string.

2019 - Just moved into a new home (yet another change of plans). Will be dim but not dark. Too much to do at the new place to leave time for a show.
