    Default Pixel Icicle Troubleshooting Help

I already cut up 4 out of 7 strings that I thought had dead pixels. I should've tested after cutting the first one! When I cut out the dead ones pictured, they work fine when connecting directly to the controller. Also, the 3 remaining strings I have, got the same exact pixels that are "dead". I'm 99% sure if I cut them off, they'll work fine if connected straight to the controller. What's going on?? I also injected power at the end of the string thinking it was a power issue, but that did nothing. Voltage at the end of the cut string as well as the untouched strings are 11.8v-11.9. They are 2811s 12v.

How are you testing them? What physical controller? Could it be set for a number of pixels or number of channels lower than the length of the string?

It's an F16V3 in test mode. Didnt even think about that! But when I tried plugging in a string at the end of one that I had removed 1 from, about half of the second string lit up. So that was about 30 more than a single string.

Can you post a screen shot of your controller settings? In particular, the output page(s). If you are testing directly from the controller (and not from a sequencer), the test page as well.

Just ran it right out of the package! Feeling pretty dumb right about now because I'm pretty sure that's the problem and I just cut up 3 perfectly good strings! I'll check out the settings. Thanks for the help!

Ok just confirmed that I'm a moron! It was the controller settings! Now to solder back what I cut! At least one of the strings actually had a dead pixel! Thanks again!! I would've never even thought about that!!

This is a lesson many of us have learned. Some of us have relearned it. And relearned it. And .........
