Default E682 verses WS2811 some work, some do not

I have a bit of an issue i need help with. I have previously used only DIYLEDEXPRESS 2811 strings. Recently i ordered some special spacing strings from Ray. The strips came in and they do not light. I was lucky enough to have another member here close enough to me to try other lights sets and test the new one for me.

we have verified the new strings work on an independent controller
we have verified the new strings do not work when plugged into same channel where the DIY versions work on my E682
we have verified older strings from Ray work - thinner wire (jacket) version, work on my E682, thicker do not.

This is the strange part, strings from Ray with thinner looking wire (jacket) seem to work fine. Strings from Ray with larger looking wire (jacket) do not run. As far as looking at the wire jackets on the DIY strings, they appear to be the same larger jackets as the new strings.

I have tried changing the E682 light output type with no positive results. I believe one setting turned on a few of the lights in different colors and brightness.

I have attached one of my controller screen shots. I know the firmware is a little old, but i run GECE lights and from what i have read, the upgrade has issues with the GECE strings. If that is incorrect, please correct me.

This could be the issue with the new 2811 chips that came out last year. Try updating your firmware to the newest 5.xx. Thatís supposed to support the new chips.

There is a test you can run to see if it is the timing change from the new pixels causing your issue. Connect a string that works to the output of your 682. Add your new string to the end of the working string. Adjust the settings to accommodate the new total string length. If the new string now works, then your issue is the new "inter frame" time specification. A controller update will fix your issue.

You will also be able to control each individual port and not just groups of four

I run GECE and WS2811 on the same controller with no problems using v5.X firmware.

Update to version 5 firmware. Then set timing to 300 nanoseconds. This will make newer strings work and older strings will continue to work.
