Which wrist bands are you talking about? Where are you getting them from? There are several different technologies being used at locations like the Olympics, concerts, Disney, etc.
Has anyone used or tried to use those LED wireless wristbands in their display? They appear to run via DMX so I would think that you could incorporate them into the sequence some how. But my searches haven't turned up much information.

One of the guys who attends the nj mini has talked about wristbands. He’s supposedly bringing some this weekend. I can see if he has any good info and pass it o.
There was a whole thread (several?) about wrist bands a while back. Do a search of the sites. A lot of good information was passed around.

There is someone in the xLights group that had a group buy and had wireless DMX wristbands made up. Read there was a lot of issues as they interfered with key fobs so a lot of neighbors and even people watching the show had problems locking/unlocking and even starting their cars. Probably have to go with the IR version to negate that.
