    Default arduino and triac

    hi,

First thanks for the help last year .
The arduino and relays works verry good .

Try to make a singing tree i used 5 volt leds one color and diferent colors.

I ordered more ssr relays ans yes that was not working ,my mistake not read the internet .

So i used mech.relays but that make a lot of noise .

When i was reading around i found that the triac can be used as a switch.

I think 5 volt with a resistor from arduino to the triac and this is switching a the leds .

Are there more who used this idee ?

No that will not work. You need a DC ssr. A triac counts on switching an AC waveform. Once a triac turns on, it stays on until the voltage applied to it drops to (near) zero. A DC ssr uses a mosfet to allow current too pass or stop. It can be turned on and off very quickly (PWM) allowing it to approximate dimming in a DC device such as an LED.

Hi, Iíve used these with Arduino for DC switching and not had any issues.

Also Known as a DC SSR. You can get the kits from some of the vendors on this site.
