    Default RP32 Input Power Requirement

    Hi,
I'm looking to tie a few 110 AC props into my show driven by a Falcon F16v3. I plan to connect a Renard RP32 controller to the F16v3 via the DMX2 port. I'm choosing the PR32 so I have flexibility at the edge.

Question: I have reliable 12 & 5 volt DC power available. Does the RP32 actually *require* an AC voltage? I couldn't find a schematic to confirm. I plan to provide power to the props via the SSR cards, not directly from the RP32.

    Thanks.

It requires AC if you intend to use dimming with AC lights. If you plan to control only DC SSRs then you can bypass the transformer and power it with DC. And, of course, you'd need to change the firmware to be DC instead of requiring the AC's ZC signal.
