those often have a very wide tip (i call them sledgehammers). you might want to get a narrower tip (needle tip not needed). it makes working with a board a bit easier.

2019 - Just moved into a new home (yet another change of plans). Will be dim but not dark. Too much to do at the new place to leave time for a show.

That's awesome!! Perfect way to build my confidence.... Thanks Wayne!! If you don't mind, You can just send the practice board with the SS24 kit when I order it.

Funny thing is I'm sort of getting excited now about building this controller. FYI....Wife thinks I'm crazy for thinking about Christmas in January.

I guess most of us are crazy, as most are repairing this years show pieces, planning for next year, programing songs for next year and building new items. This is a year round hobby. Glad to see you're excited.

My wife is fed up with christmas in the house from November to October. She says the only relief she gets from Christmas is in September when I am working on Halloween.

The soldering station I use is the weller WLC100. there are multiple different tips that can also be purchased. They can also be had for about 30 - 40 bucks

It is really hard to beat this deal. I have build many controllers with the same one. It is even the one I used in the my soldering video.

Wayne's Kits are awesome and are very well labeled. Just follow the build instructions and the numbered
bags and it's not bad! I have assembled a dozen or so of these (SS8, SS16, SS24) with zero failures so far. Very dependable
    board.

Another good investment is a desoldering station. You won't regret the purchase.
