Good read. This must explain why I get collision lights flashing on cheap switches when I recently connected a couple of e682s for tests. I ran 10 e682s for 2018 Christmas show, with 6 configured multicast, on a catalyst 3560 without any issues. I was testing the cheap switches as backups.

This was my first year running unicast. Originally I was using multicast with my 682's and 6804's. The reason for changing to unicast was I changed from Meanwell power supplies to 750 watt 62.5 amp server supplies allowing me to run more pixels from one supply and it cut down my power supplies I use by 1/2. Ran like a charm all season. In my office at home I have an 8 port network switch which then goes to a 16 port network switch in the garage. One of the controllers also had a 4 port switch. Both the 682 and 6804's will run unicast without any issues. All the network switches are Netgear unmanaged.
