Default Information On Buying Pixels - Listed 5v/12v

I am looking to buy 12v 12mm WS2811 Pixel strings. While looking on some sites and ads, some are listed as 5v and 12v not one or the other. Would these be considered to be 12v and also work at 5v? or a bad listing?

And that's how I understand it, listings must be wrong.

They may mean they have both but you have to specify which.

Here are a few I just found, but after thinking about it I'm sure I would need to just contact the suppliers and specify 12v or 5v. I had in mind that maybe they were refering to the 12v systems working at 5v (not the other way round). I didn't thtat that was the case and wanted to bounce it off everyone here.

If i bought today I think I would go with this distro BENLED.

Here are some of the ones that list both, but there was one that had oder now and no way of selecting 5v/12v, can't find that one now.

Not trying to steer you to a specific person because it's your choice, but if you are buying off aliexpress, why not give Ray Wu a check? If you contact him directly and give him a list of exactly what you want, he'll beat the prices he has listed on his site.

Also, if you wait about a month, some of the sites here will start talking about pre-sales where you can get good deals. Provided, of course, that you are willing to buy in late January and not have your parts until possibly May or June.

    Hi

PASSING THIS ALONG: the CHINA TRADE TARIFF=to date it has gone up 10% ... suppose to go up another 15% again by Jan 1st, 2019. There is a "GREY" window of 90 days, forgot what that was.

However, many US suppliers who buy from CHINA are already ordering to beat the 15% tariff increase.

This affects huge orders traveling overseas via CANOE. If it is in the water by Jan 1st and arrives before the 90 days - it beats the 15% added tariff. That was my take on it. The added delay is to clear through US Customs. Pretty much why we have to wait 3-5 months -- or there and about.

Some folks know it is coming ... some think to wait and see.

Some of this information is not correct. The 10% tariff is in play and has been since September. After a meeting between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G-20 Summit, the additional 15% was put on hold for 90 days and could be changed before then depending upon further talks between the country's leaders.

US Customs does not care when the shipment leaves China nor do they care about mode of transport. All US Customs cares about is when the shipment arrives to the ports of the USA. Prior to the G-10 Summit the timeline *was* that the shipment entry system was to be shut down 5-ish days before Jan 1 to allow for the tariffs to be coded. Any shipment of goods subject to the new tariff that had not entered the USA before the order entry system was taken down would be subject to the new tariff.

ALL items that fall under the tariff increases are subject to tax regardless of their mode of transit (Air, ocean freight, carrier pigeon, etc.) While it's possible small orders from China will come pass through without the tariff ALL shipments are subject to the tariff regardless of mode of transport.
