    Default CNC Ideas for 2019

Well I jumped on a Black Friday deal and ordered a 40 x 40 CNC
Have been researching these since 2015 and decided to start small then build a larger machine as experience grant .
2019 will be an interesting year for creativity and am looking forward to sharing here in this forum .

When you get going on this I would be interested to see what you come up with. I have a 96x48" shopbot Flatbed CNC that I have only used on two projects and both for other people.. just sitting here waiting for something fun to do..

I too got into building a CNC - but from scratch using threaded rods for lead screws, and MDF frame. It works with about 50 ips before it starts to miss steps on the stepper motors. For now I'm manually G-coding for a few small projects. I use CorelDraw for my 2D outline. Working on a wood panel 8" X 8" X 0.33" which will hold 21 potentiometers, 3 LEDs and 2 toggle switches. All parts "recessed" into the wood panel using my CNC and manual G-code generation. More practise will be required to get the hang of this technology.

One curious question... Do these have to sit flat, or can they be built at a slight angle against a wall, like the saws they use in the lumber yard?

Besides, I've noticed that the saws that are vertically mounted actually do a better job than say a table saw or the like. This should be true with the CNC. I'd use it to cut Coroplast and ABS.

The concept should work with a lower price tag too.
