    Default 682 number of channels

I know this may seem obvious but am I correct in assuming since each plug can handle 510 channels , 4 plugs per universe with 4 universes that the total number of channels a 682 can handle (in multicast) is 510 x 4 = 2040 x 4 universes = 8160 channels?

think you have this wrong in multicast it can do 7 universes of Multicast which is 7 x 170 pixels X 3 = 3570 channels in unicast it can do 12 universes x 170 pixels X 3 = 6120 channels

a universe is 170 pixels or 512 channels

When you say plugs I'm assuming the 16 outputs. Technically each output can do more but you can't exceed the limit of the controller. 1 output on my 682 runs 480 pixels. That's 1,440 channels. Another runs 300 pixels totaling 900 channels. I've tested my 900 pixel tree on 1 output using power injection with no issues.

what I posted is the total the whole board can do not just 4 ports on the board like pmiller said you cant exceed the limit that board can do

Good to know, is that 5v or 12v pixels?

Voltage doesn't matter. It matters when you need to inject power. Generally inject power every 50 pixels for 5 volts and every 100 pixels for 12 volts. It also depends on what percentage your operating your lights at. I run my pixel tree at 25% so i can run more pixels without injection. It's something you need to decide and experiment with because every situation is different.
