    Default Pixel power/data cable

    Hello,

    I am fairly new to the forum and not sure if this is the right place to post or not. I have been looking into different types of wire/cable to run pixels with. I know some use Cat5/6, but personally not a fan. I recently came across RG-6 coax cable with power conductors.

    Has anyone used something like this? would there be any issues with it? also i haven't dug into it to find the best pricing, but at first glance it seems reasonably priced.

    I use 4 conductor speaker wire from Monoprice. It is available from 18-12 AWG in 100 and 250' reels. Pure Copper not CCA
    2012 - 1st year 64 Channels - 7500 LED lights - 5 sequences
    2013 - 128 Channels - 10,000 LED lights - 7 sequences (2 New)
    2014 - 201 Channels - upgrading 8 Arches to dumb RGB - 8+ sequences (1+ New)
    2015 - 240 Channels + 8 Universes - sequences TBD
    2016 - No Display
    2017 - Back in the Game - 240 Renard Channels + 12 Universes

    I use 18/3 SJOOW wire that I buy online or at the local hardware store. It does the job for me and it's flexible.

    Plus 1 great for outdoor, but not in walls. I use it in 18 16 & 14 gauge. This stuff lasts for ever and is UV protected.

    Flexible rubber jacket that lays flat....doesn't hold a shape like the thermal plastic cords.

    I use el-cheapo 14-2 and 16-2 zip cord from home depot and lowes. For data I use the 22 AWG RGB cable (4 conductor), split into two conductors. I buy it 100M at a time.


    2018 - Moving and going to visit my Daughter in New Zealand. Most likely I will be dark or nearly dark, Some static stuff that is simple to put up.
