    Does the stock ribbon cable reach top to bottom in this design? I was thinking I needed to either fabricate a longer 40pin cable or design a rectangular cutout to feed the ribbon cable down.

    I was wondering the same thing.Since the ribbon is almost 8 inches long,it looks like it to me that it should be ok.

    Best way to test is to print the design to scale on your paper printer and then dry fit the components to see if everything fits properly and all cables are long enough.

    Based my precise and expert cutting, I measured about around 4" or so gap available between the top and bottom plates and still have a little slack for the stock ribbon cable.
