    Default ESPixelStick v3.0 Released

    I just wrapped up 3.0 final. Pre-compiled binaries along with the flash tool are available here - https://github.com/forkineye/ESPixelStick/releases. The full list of changes are located here - https://github.com/forkineye/ESPixel...0/Changelog.md. Thanks everyone for the continued feedback and contributions to the code.

    This my first year getting into pixel lights, and light control. I got my pixelstick last week and was able to get it on the network and control it. I am trying to learn how to control it from either vixen or xlights. Is it possible to use this to control a mega tree with 10 strands of 50 rgb 5v ws2811?

    Full changelog is here - https://github.com/forkineye/ESPixel...0/Changelog.md. Basically, if you aren't having websocket issues when the UI loads or are worried about the WPA2 KRACK vulnerability, you can stay on rc3.

    Oh yeah, one stick will support 500 pixels. Just power inject properly like you would on any other 5V tree.

    I was thinking about that as I updated 18 controllers last night twice, lol.

    Does anyone know if you have to make physical changes to the Renard Plus wifi pixel controller to use version 3.0 of the software? I updated mine and it doesn't seem to work anymore, but the ESP module works on the espixelstick v2.0 just fine.

    thanks

    I just re-flashed a RC3 with 3.0 and have no issues. I also updated a RC3 to 3.0 via Administration. Both work fine, and without issues.
    The Renard Plus unit is a little different since it does not have a reset button. Here is how I do it.

    Looking at the Renard WiFi Pixel, - ESP UP - I connect my USB to TTL programmer as follow (Pins left to right)

    (USB not connected)

    USB-TTL = Renard ESP
    No connection
    Tx = Rx
    Rx = Tx
    5V = 5V
    No Connection
    G = G

    Hold the Renard ESP programming button and plug in the USB connection. - when computed acknowledges the connection is complete, release button.
    (If your computes does not acknowledge, plug-in and wait 3 seconds.)

    Start the ESP Flash Tool
    Verify your SSID and Password
    Click UPLOAD

    When programming is complete, reboot the ESP with a power off.
    Power up and test.
