I have ordered from them for years, and, until this year, never had issues. I still got everything I ordered in time to be useful this year, but I can see where others feel frustrated and unhappy. Things happen, and I think everyone understands that, but, when they do, people need to do extra work staying online and responding to issues. Multiple vendors have had product issues, but it becomes a problem when concerns are met with silence. Hopefully this staffing change will help people get answers sooner and quick resolution. Best of luck to DIYLedExpress, but for sure, there's some trust to be rebuilt.

I have been purchasing from DIYLEDExpress for years and always been satisfied with the results in the past. Even this year, I received my order with no errors although it was a few months later than expected. But I was mostly OK with it except for a change-order request that never got a response.

My concern is with these presales we also pre-PAY. For many of us, we pre-pay several THOUSAND dollars. So my credit card is charged in January and I pay it in February, then wait 6 months for product to arrive. Most credit cards only allow disputes within 60 days from the statement when the charge first appeared. Sending several thousand dollars to someone and waiting 6 months takes a great deal of trust. Even though it hadn't been a problem in the past, I always cringed just a little bit when I pay the credit card bill in February, knowing I'll be waiting months before anything arrives. This year, the lack of communication and virtual disappearance of anybody at DIYLE has lowered the trust factor tremendously.

I like the products and I have standarized on their pigtails, so as long as they are still selling, I will probably continue to buy. BUT I have a feeling that come January I won't be brave enough to do a thousand dollar pre-sale order. IF I buy from DIYLE next year it will probably only be in-stock items. It will take time to rebuild the trust of collecting that much money from people and then completely dropping the ball on all communication.

I think this is really the biggest problem that hasn't been mentioned. People pay A LOT of money up-front to a vendor that can simply disappear.

How most of the Pre-sales are run actually violate both merchant account including PayPal and all major credit card agreements when accepting payments for pre-sale items.

    https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mp...y-and-reserves
PayPal only allows 20 days. "you must guarantee delivery within 20 days from the date of purchase"

Merchant accounts are normally 30 days. This is why you will see most major companies won't charge you until they ship your items even on pre-sale items. They may run an authorization to validate the funds are available at the time of purchase but that authorization expires after so many days (depends on merchant/card) and then the buyer must be charged when the item ships.

Unrelated but another big policy violations I see all the time is that you can not charge a fee to accept a card. Your Cash Price and Card Price has to be the same.
    https://www.braintreepayments.com/legal/bank-agreement (Example)

    c. Minimum or Maximum/Surcharges; Taxes. You agree that you shall not set minimum or maximum transaction amounts or impose surcharges as a condition of honoring Visa, Mastercard and Discover cards.

    • f. Discrimination. You agree that you shall not engage in any acceptance practice that discriminates against or discourages the use of Visa, Mastercard or Discover in favor of any other card brand.

This is just some examples but all merchant service providers have them and they all very a bit. Violation of the terms gets your account either frozen, suspended or even black listed from ever having a merchant account agian.

I understand that things can sometimes get away from you for a minute, and Im glad you are taking the steps to fix it. Im pretty much married to DIYLEDEXPRESS because all of me pigtails are from there. I just placed another order today, hopefully it comes quickly!!!

If I could make a few suggestions, here are some products Id love to see.

    3-4-3 pigtails with course threads

Ws2811 flood lights with course thread pigtails

    Thanks!!

We are always looking to the future with new products and offerings. They have to meet our strict QC standards though. Good suggestions.

Probably the best option would to be to add a customer service phone number. I was not part of the presale, but ordered enclosures, visa was charged but the page kept the items in the cart. Emailed, no response. Finally noticed on credit card bill a phone number. Upon calling it was fixed promptly. When people have issues a phone call can work wonders for customer satisfaction. Just a thought.

Gonna have to give them some credit, the new person has been emailing me about my pigtails problem. I again will say, I know it's not their fault, manufacturer is to blame. I mY give them another chance because they have a good price on the5 foot pigtails.
