    Default Cut out fun

Just finished my first cutout (almost) today. I didnít realize how enjoyable it was, I like doing diy stuff and this is probably one of the easiest and best looking diy things Iíve done. I projected the image on the plywood after I put a coat of white outdoor primer, traced with a pencil then used a router to cut out. Used acrylic paint and was surprised that it didnít take all that much. I have 2 coats on all but the ribbon around Plutoís neck. I will probably give it all another coat and then use something to water seal it. I enjoyed this one so much I have 3 or 4 more I want to do know, just hope I have the time. If anyone is thinking about trying these but donít kno for sure if I can do it, I say go for it, u wonít be sorry.

Very Nice, I will agree, I enjoyed making my 1st cut out this year too, and plan to add more next year.

Looks great! I like to give mine a black outline. Gives it more of a finished look.

Very nicely done. Be sure to paint the edges; suggest one or two coats of primer, then 2 coats of a quality outdoor paint. Do the same to the back if you haven't painted the back.

You can also wipe a heavy coat of waterproof wood glue like Titebond around the edges, it seals the end grain of the plywood and prevents the paint on the edges from whicking. I have cutouts that are 6 + years old with no delamination of the edges.

I like to use the sample paint from Home Depot, pick your colors. I figure if I can paint my house with it then the cutouts will work as well
