    Default Mega Tree Sizing

A lot of you have mega trees so I reach out to your knowledge bank. I ordered 500 pixels to build a mega tree. My original thought was 16 strings of 30 at 3" spacing should work. Now that I have the parts and am starting to assemble, I believe I need 2" spacing since the viewing distance is only about 20' away. I gather that most of this is left up to personal preference, but what is every one's thoughts? If I decide to go with 2" spacing I would have only an 11 string tree which may be a bit thin in my opinion. Yes, I could order more, however, I don't believe the misses will approve the expense with a baby on the way.

Spacing is a personal preference imo, however at 20' the 3" may be a little too wide apart. An alternative would be a 1/2 or 3/4 round tree? If my calcs are correct, you're going for an 8' tree based on the 30 pixels at 3"?

    # of pixels x pixel spacing = length of each string/strip

    30 x 3 = a 90" tree, which would be a mini mega tree .

Unless you have a strong desire to do pictures your 3" spacing will do just fine. I have one 19ft and two 9ft trees that use 3" spacing and they look just fine. I may be a little farther from the street but I see no problem. This will be a good place for you this year and you can always go to a higher density next year.

In this video the tree on the left side is exactly what you are talking about.

This will only be a half tree. It will sit directly against the house between two windows. It's a single story house and I was only planning on it being around 8'. So yes by most standards it will be a mini mega tree.

Make 3 strings, lay it out on the ground. Then judge for yourself. That said, I'd go for your original plan. Then decide how you want to change it, if at all, while looking at it over the season and get the misses input.
