For a string of pixels, EVERY pixel AND the controller IS a data source. This means the last pixel on each of your mini trees needs to generate a signal strong enough to get to the first pixel on your next tree. If that distance is 15', then you should not need a buffer (unless your wires are in an electrically noisy environment). In other words, the buffer way at the beginning of the chain has no effect beyond the first pixel the data from the buffer encounters. Every pixel terminates the data stream on its input side and generates a new data stream on its output side. But this next bit is important: GIGO is strictly enforced. If you deliver garbage (noise) to a pixel, the pixel will strengthen that noise and pass it on to the next pixel.
This is perfect Martin and clears things up. I have all the parts and will build it out in the basement this week to prove it all out. Thanks everyone for the guidance it's all coming together!

OK, my bad. I put my email address on the wrong line on the sign up sheet and paid for someone else's order.

RobG: email sent to straighten this out.

Looks like there's a mixup in the sing up sheet, few emails may have been entered on the wrong line.
If you receive an invoice and the amount of parts ordered is not correct, let me know and I will correct it.

does this buffer/line driver pass along a renard signal?

I am running a px-1 and need to extend my run and would need to use a "null pixel", I Should say several "null pixels" to accomplish what I need to do.

was wondering if this is an alternative?

You could use a pair of them to pass RS485 Data. But the output of a PX1 is WS2811, not renard. Yes you can use these between any two pixels to extend the distance between the pixels and you can use these if the distance from the Renard to the first pixel is a large distance.

2017 adding 2 more candy canes, 7 Mid trees and a Halloween show. Removing most 2812 strips and replacing them with bullet pixel mounting strips. Replacing many buck converter waterproof bags with printed boxes.
