    Personally, I believe acrylic is more economically viable.

    The difference is that polycarbonate compounds have strong chemical bonds and hence, accounts for the strength and the increased resistance to impact. I use acrylic shower mirrors for my home which I had bought in bulk at a good deal. They say acrylic is easier to crack but these ones are shatter-proof. But again, I replace mirrors if there's a crack so it doesn't matter if it's Lexan or Plexiglas.
