Default Feedback from those who have used short throw projectors for smallish matrices

I've been considering a new matrix and I don't want to rule out using a projector for rear projection onto a screen. So what are people's opinions that have used them? Are there recommendations on inexpensive, yet bright projectors (I don't want to break the bank, but I understand that I need something better than the $50 ones)? Other thoughts that I haven't considered? This isn't going to be a large screen, just something I can throw some clips onto (maybe 4ft tall).

High lumen and short throw. Craigslist for ultra cheap, Epson Powerlite SVGA at Best Buy. Benq W1070 refurbs are on sale at its site. Shower curtain for the screen, Best if you can box in the projector (think rear projection tv)
