yes it would, the question being choosing which output ports on the arduino, and wiring in some optoisolators to activate the relays without frying the arduino. i'm still tempted. My unit is going to my motherinlaw's house this year so maybe after christmas.

The only reason I want to go the parallel port route is because there was a tutorial on how to do it. I know nothing about arduino and don't have a clue what an optoisolator is! LOL

The problem with the parallel port tutorial is that parallel ports are now obsolete, causing me to try to figure out a work-around with this usb to parallel adapter. For about 20 bucks, I got a couple adapters and figured I'd give it a shot. I already had Cat6 cable laying around, and the FM Transmitter I bought for this mod I will use when I upgrade to Renard controllers or something similar in the future. So, I'm not really out much, other than my time, if this doesn't work. I just figured it would be nice to get started with creating sequences for six channels so that when I upgrade to more it won't be so overwhelming.

Well, i think I'm giving up on this experiment. Been messing with this for a few days now and haven't been able to get it working. It would have been a nice starting point to learn Vixen, but I guess now I'll just have to jump in and do it the right way.
