About 21 hours post op. Most of my leg pain is gone and I am walking upright without limping. I felt like the hunch back of notre dame for a while, LOL. The incision site hurts pretty bad if something touches it so sleeping on my back is not very comfortable. My left hip is really sore but I think that is from the way I have been walking for the past 6 months.

Valium ad Percocet should help a bit for the next few days.

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes!!! I really appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Brian, your friendly site Admin.

A week or so of bed rest and you'll want to start training for a marathon.

Brian, good to hear! My father (84 in August) had l4 and L5 fused 15 years ago and this past December had L-1 through L-4 fused. After a setback where he had to go back in because the one of the pins fell out, he has played three rounds of golf, including round of 85. I think you have a lot to look forward to.
    That's a feature not a bug.
    There's no charge for that.

    Good to hear!

One caution though: DO NOT try to work on lights, cars, or anything else that requires thinking until both of those drugs clear your system. Redoing work is not productive!

Holy smokes! I tried to come off the pain mess last night for 2 reasons. My daughter wanted me to pick her up from school and I am suffering severe constipation. I woke up at 3 am and have not been able to sleep since. I relented and took more percocet this morning. I could not handle the pain. My left hip hurts way more now than any of the pain before the surgery. I hope this will resolve shortly. The plus side is I did have a few bm this morning.

You know, the TV commercial for laser spine institute shows you walking out with nothing but relief. I did not go there but I guess their commercials are just like late night advertising, nothing is ever as they say it is on tv! LOL.

Oh, and my daughter is upset that I can't pick her up from school. I will not drive will taking any narcotic no matter how I feel.
    Thanks,

Yea you just learned the hard way! It does "somewhat" get worse for a few days after the surgery but will get better within a week or so.
Your lucky Brian, I am still taking OxyContin for pain after 6 months! But my surgery was different and everybody reacts different to pain.
Take what they say though and take it easy for a bit otherwise you risk doing damage to the site, muscles, and more till things heal up a bit (I say this from experience because I tried to do too much too soon)!
